The intimate and small communities of Copper Kettle, Cobble Beach, Big Bay, Oxenden and Balmy Beach all make up the Georgian Bluffs area. This quaint region is located on the shores of Georgian Bay and surrounded by other large cities. As a rural area it's surrounded by nature with some agricultural endeavours mixed in.

The area offers a lot of recreational actives in all seasons. Hiking the trails and photography are very popular during summer tourist season. The crystal clean waters of Georgian Bay offer swimmers a perfect environment. The diving community loves this area as they can explore the many old shipwrecks from years when the waters were treacherous.

The area is famous for all types of artistic endeavours. The group, "Artists Around The Sound", offers memberships to all who are interested and throughout the year they offer tours of the different studios in the area. Many of the artists in the area use natural substances in their works. Every type of art can be explored by visitors to this area.

One thing that tops the lists in activities is golf. The Cobble Beach Golf Links was voted "Ontario's Best New Course" in 2007 and has continued to achieve awards over the years. The fairways are pristine and encompass rolling greens that are hard to find anywhere else in the province. Cobble Beach Golf Links has one of the most amazing clubhouses in Ontario and received an award in 2007 for "Best New Clubhouse."

The area also offers three other outstanding golf courses. The Owen Sound Golf & Country Club has a challenging course that overlooks Georgian Bay. The scenery is spectacular and the course is demanding. The Wiarton Golf Club and the Northern Dunes Club are more laid back and fun to play. Both clubs offer spectacular scenery to those who just want to enjoy a round of golf with friends or family.

Waterfront properties in this area are always in high demand. With beautiful vistas of crystal clear waters, homes in this area follow the entire scenic route from Wiarton to Owen Sound. These waterfront properties offer peaceful vacation homes away from a hectic city life. They're surrounded by a number of conservation areas that help to ensure the area stays pristine. The area is also close to 8 inland lakes for visitors to discover. If fishing is your hobby then you'll love this area. Close by at Skinner's Bluff are loop trails for visitors to explore. The loop goes around the cliff edge to an area that overlooks Griffith, White Cloud and Hay Islands. It then rejoins the Bruce Trail and forms a loop of 1.9 km. It's a great walking trail and yet short enough for everyone to enjoy. At the end of a day hiking you can go to Colpoy's Bay Lookout where you'll find the views from the parking area that overlook some of the islands of Georgian Bay and Cap Croker. It's the perfect way to end a day as the sun sets over the waters of the area producing some of the best sunsets you'll ever see.
